GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL
New Enrolment Policy . “A new enrolment policy has been decided on for the Christchurch Girls' High School,” said Professor R. T. Sussex, chairman of the school’s board of .governors, at the annual meeting of the board on Monday evening “Since there is no specific residential area associated with the school, applications will be considered from all residential areas in and about Christchurch.” he said. “The suitability of the candidate concerned for the course requested will be taken into consideration. If the applicant has a sister already in attendance at the school or is the daughter of a former pupil this will be taken into account
“Parents are asked to ascertain before making application whether the course contemplated for their daughter •is available. It should be noted that commercial and home life courses are not available." Agreement on the siting and the plans for the school’s new assembly hall had been reached, it was reported. Tenders for the building, of the hall, designed to accommodate 700 pupils, will be called later in the year.
Officers elected were: chairman, Professor Sussex; deputy-chairman, Mr* C. H. Perkins; Christchurch Portprimary Schools’ Council representative, Mrs Perkins; hostels committee, Mesdames Perkins, J. F. Landreth, J. J. Saunders, R. R. Beauchamp. Miss O. Eslick, and Mr C. L. Harper; secretary, Mr P. J. Halligan.
