CHAMPIONSHIP DOG TRIALS Results Of Final Days’ Events (From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU, April 23. Judges commented most favourably on the Canterbury championships, which were held in conjunction with events conducted by the Gapes ValleyHilton Dog Trials Club during the week. Perfect weather prevailed during the four-day meeting, which concluded on Saturday. Attendances were good throughout. Results of Class n Canterbury championships, short pull, drive and yard, held on Friday and Saturday, and judged by Mr R. M. Wilson (Kirwee) were:— W. E. A sound market for sheep, with values on a par with recent rates, ruled at the Studholme Junction stock sale. Store sheep met with keen competition, with breeding ewes in demand. Only a small entry of fat sheep came forward. About 80 head of cattle sold at values generally on a par with the previous sale.

The range of prices was:— Fat Sheep.—Wethers to 52s Id, maiden ewes 50s Id, lambs 44s Id to 49s 4d.

Store Sheep.—Romney cross ewe lambs 34s 6d to 475, shorn 34s to 445: mixed sex lambs 37s to 435; Romney wether lambs 24s to 365; Border Leicester cross ewe lambs to 49s 6d. Mixed age ewes made to 55s 6d; full mouth ewes 37s to 48s; rape ewes from 13s,

Cattle.—Prime heavy steers £45 2s 6d to £52 12s 6d; medium £37 12s 6d to £47 2s 6d; light from £33 2s 6d; prime heifers £37 2s 6d to £42 12s 6d; light £2B 12s 6d to £32 2s 6d.

Extra prime runners £3B 12s 6d to £43 2s 6d; medium £2B 12s 6d to £3l 12s 6d.

Fat cows, prime £3O 2s 6d to £32 12s 6d; medium £25 2s 6d io £29 2s 6d; light from £l9 12s 6d; cows and runners £26 2s 6d to £35 2s 6d. Bulls £3O to £42 10s.

Two pens of steer calves were offered. Black-polled Hereford £2O 10s; small £l9.
