Oil Strike Rumours

IN ,Z.P.A.-ReuteT—Copyright) SYDNEY, April 24. Rumours of an impending oil strike in Queensland swept Sydney this week-end. Final testing of an oil search bore at Tara, in western Queensland, is now under way and speculation was current that prospects were good. The Australian resident manager of the Americanowned Union Oil Development Corporation,. which has drilled the bore, known as Cabawin No. 1 <Mr D. T. Graves), said in Sydney last night: “We should make final tests within four or five days.” The company is searching for oil in an area held under Government permit by the Australian Oil and Gas Company.
