FAULT IN AIRCRAFT
Anxious Time For Pilot <N2 Prest Association) N. PLYMOUTH, April 23. For 45 minutes, the pilot of a Dakota topdressing aircraft flying over Taranaki wondered if his undercarriage was locked down for landing today Below him at the New Plymouth airport, hundreds wondered also. Alone in the aircraft. Mr D. F. Clow, of New Plymouth, flew the plane in a wide circuit to the east of the aerodrome, and began a shallow approach. Gently the Dakota touched down. The undercarriage held, and the plane rolled to a stop. He had been about to land on an airstrip after a topdressing run. He immediately radioed Wellington air traffic control and then turned to fly the Dakota to his home base at New Plymouth.
