CADUCEUS PRAISED
Dominance In Australia (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 7 p.m.) SYDNEY, May 6. The New Zealand pacer Cadeceus’s complete dominance over Australian pacers might lead to more top-class New Zealand horses coming to Sydney nert season, the “Daily Telegraph” trotting writer. Bill Whittaker, said today. “Caduceus is head and shoulders above our horses,” he said. “But he is not outstanding in New Zealand, although he is in the top bracket. ' “Since January, Caduceus has beaten our best from Perth to Sydney and collected more than £7OOO in prize-money.” Caduceus ran an unofficial record in finishing second to Radiant Venture at Harold Park on Saturday night. He was recorded a 2min 5 l-ssec mile rate, which is a second faster than Ribands’s track record for 11J furlongs. Caduceus’s rate is also the fastest recorded at Harold Park in a race beyond a mile. The record will not be recognised because Caduceus did not win. Whittaker said: “The New Zealander must be ranked with previous Harold Park night trot giants in Avian Derby, Ribands, and Uncle Joe.”
