Morris) were denied at a meeting of the executive commit-i tee of the Diamond Harbour! Burgesses' Association on Satur-I day evening. It was said at the burgesses, meeting that if Cr. Morris was; correctly reported in “The Press” about a leakage <?f information from a council committee meeting, his statement that the information had been telephoned to Diamond Harbour on the Tuesday after the council meeting was contrary to fact. Cr. Morris was reported as saying that the information was telephoned to Diamond Harbour at 8 a.m. on the Tuesday and brought to Lyttelton by passengers by the 9 a.m. launch. It was said at the meeting that the Diamond Harbour telephone exchange does not open until 9 a.m., and there is no 9 a.m. boat on Tuesdays, The information did not reach Diamond Harbour until 5.55 p.m. on the Tuesday.
