Women On Juries

Sir,—l appreciate the interest taken by “Housewife" in my letter on this subject. Replying to one or two points in hers, I write to say that the English housewife is as occupied as her New Zealand sister and many would be glad indeed if daily help were as “cheap and plentiful” in England as she states it to be. Regarding voluntary work, I have the greatest admiration for those women, here and at home, who undertake activities in fields so varied and so important. Nevertheless, it seems to me that seeing that women find themselves not infrequently in the., witness-box and even occasionally in the dock, a woman or two on the jury is to be desired.—Yours, etc., M. SUGGATE. May 4, 1957.
