SIERRA LEONE ELECTIONS

(Rec. 10 p.m.) FREETOWN (Sierra Leone), Ma y 5 - The Sierra Leone People’s, Party has been returned to power with a clear majority in the Colony’s’ General Elections. The party holds 21 seats in the new 39-seat House of Representatives. The National Council of Sierra Leone has four, and four have gone to independents. Results in the remaining 10 seats are, still to be declared. In the previous House, which had 21 seats, the People’s Party had 17, the National Council three and the United Progressive Party one. The House also ha: six Govern-ment-nominated members and 12 paramount tribal chiefs.
