“Men His First Concern ”

“With the death of General Kippenberger, soldiers of World War II have lost not only one of their greatest leaders, but also a personal friend,” said Brigadier J. T. Burrows, commander of the Southern Military District, yesterday. Brigadier Burrows was one of the original company commanders under General Kippenberger when he commanded the 20th Battalion.

“The general loved his men. In war they were always his first concern and in peace their interests were his interests. He never lost the common touch. “Those of us who served under him mourn the soldier, the leader, the man and the friend.” Brigadier Burrows said.
