Rifle Shooting
S.I. Smallbore Team (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, May 5. The South Island smallbore rifle team to shoot against the North Island team in the annual match at Carterton on June 1 has been chosen. The New Zealand team to compete against Australia will be selected after the North-South match, and New Zealand will shoot on June 3. The South Island team is:— K. Dunbar, B. A. C. Hoban, P. Crimp (North Canterbury), R. E. Taylor, I. R. Ballinger, C. Thom, R. A. Weston (Christchurch), M. E. Blakemore, H. Smith (Timaru), P. Rose, I. Harris (Waimate), D. J. Gillan, A. Gillespie, R. Duggan, J. C. Anderson, Mrs C. Matheson (Otago), A. Mann (South Otago), J. M. Adams (Eastern Southland), and G. W Blatch (Southern Southland). Emergencies: V. Hicks (Christchurch) and A. R. Baynes (Ashburton). The team manager will be Mr A. Pomeroy (Invercargill) and the captain -C. J. Rowley (Invercargill).
The South Island women’s smallbore rifle team to shoot a 20-shot postal match against a North Island team is:—Miss F. Preston (North Canterbury), Mrs E. Zumbach (Nelson), Mrs I. Thomson, Mrs G. McCall, Miss M. McDonald, Mrs J. H. Gemmell (Eastern Southland), Mrs Sakalauskis, Mrs T. Blee (Invercargill), Mrs C. Matheson and Mrs I. White (Otago). Emergencies: Mrs P. Cromar, Mrs D. Bradley (Otago). Captain: Mrs C. Matheson.
