SPEEDBOAT RACES
Regatta At Lake Forsyth
A speedboat overturned, trapping its driver, during a regatta held on Lake Forsyth yesterday afternoon. The boat. Seabird, dug its nose into a preceding boat’s wash on a corner and overturned. The driver, Tom Tregurtha, was caught in the cockpit.
Gordon Perkins, the driver of Slip Two, jumped from his boat to assist Tregurtha, but before he reached the boat Tregurtha had struggled free. The boat was -mdamaged except for a broken windshield and waterlogging.
More than 2000 spectators watched the racing, which was organised by the New Brighton Power-boat Club.
