FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT
Situation: A complex trough of low pressure lies east of New Zealand and a disturbed south-westerly airstream flows over the country. Forecast:— West Coast: Moderate, occasionally fresh, southwesterlies predominating; variable skies; some showery periods; temperatures cool. Outlook: changeable, showers and fair periods. Nelson: Moderate to fresh south-westerlies prevailing; fair at first; showery late this afternoon; moderate to cool temperatures. Outlook: showers and fair periods.
Marlborough, except Kaikoura coast: North-westerlies becoming fresh in exposed areas; mainly fair at first, but becoming cloudy, with showers, later in the day; moderate to cool temperatures. Outlook: some showers, but mainly fair periods.
Kaikoura coast and Canterbury: South-westerly winds predominating, becoming fresh in exposed areas during the day; some showers, especially about the coast and ranges, but long fair periods in most other inland places; becoming cooler. Outlook: changeable.
