CRITICISM OF NEWSPAPERS

Comments On State

Spending

Criticism of newspapers which Continually attacked the Government and called for reduced State expenditure, was made by the Minister of Housing (Mr D. J. Eyre) at a public meeting in Fendalton last evening.

“The press never tell us how we are to do this. They never say: •Don’t spend money on the tunnel road between Christchurch and Lyttelton.’ If they suggest anything, the local press always say cut it off the fellow up the road. “It’s human. We are all a bit parochial and we cannot help that,” said Mr Eyre.
