SUMNER SILVER BAND
Provincial Contest Wanted
The annual meeting of the Sumner Silver Band decided to ask for a provincial contest to be held at Sumner. An interim committee was appointed to make investigations.
The following officers were elected:—Patrons, Messrs O. Anderson, I. Jamieson and A. Bloom; president. Mr G. F. Sauer; senior vice-president, Mr G. Snelgrove; junior vice-presidents, Messrs F. J. Oakley, C. Barrow, L. Wendelbourn; bandmaster, Mr N. R. Taylor; secretary, Mr D. Lindsay; treasurer, Mr A. Purcell; drummajor, Mr A. Fletcher; sergeant, Mr J. Sauer; corporal, Mr J. Bulman; lance-corporals, Messrs G. and J. Snelgrove; committee, Messrs J. Bulman, A. Fletcher, and J. Snelgrove.
FENCING
Australians Win In Dunedin
(New Zealand. Press Association) DUNEDIN, May 1. The Australian Universities’ fencing team won all its matches against Otago University this afternoon and evening. Results:—
Men’s Foil.—Australian Universities 9 bouts, Otago University 7. Men’s Sabre.—Australian Universities won on a count-back by 57 points to Otago University’s 58. Women’s Foils.—Australian Universities 12 bouts, Otago University 4 bouts.
