FACILITIES FOR DOCKING

Committee To Investigate

A Government inter-depart-mental committee is to examine New Zealand’s docking facilities. This was announced in Christchurch yesterday by the Minister of Marine (Mr R. G. Gerard).

The Navy and Marine Departments, the Ministry of Works and the Treasury will be represented. The committee has been asked to consider the adequacy of docking facilities throughout the Dominion, to submit any proposals for additions it considers necessary and suggestions on how such proposals be met and financed. “The committee has been asked to invite representation from organisations and boards likely to be interested in the problem,” said the Minister. Invitations would be issued soon.
