Strange Object Over Britain

LONDON, April 30 Royal Air Force chiefs tonight studied reports on a mysterious object which flashed on to the screens of radar stations along England’s south coast last night. Supersonic Javelin night fighters roared off under emergency orders from the R.A.F. station at Odham, Hampshire, in pursuit of the object, but they failed to locate it. Radar stations estimated that the object was flying due west over the English Channel at speeds of up to 900 miles an hour at between 46,000 and 48,000 feet. It was the second time in three weeks that unidentified objects had been picked up on radar screens.
