PRINCESS GRACE IN ROME
Unwelcome Attention Of Photographers
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) ROME, April 29.
Prince Ranier of Monaco and Princess Grace today retreated to their hotel suite after being mobbed by Rome’s press photographers. A spokesman threatened that they would cut short their visit if the photographers continued to pester them. “It was disgusting,” said Mr Emile Cornet, the Prince’s press attache. “The Prince and Princess had already posed for them twice.”
The couple are at Rome for an audience with the Pope. Mr Cornet complained that the Prince and Princess had been pursued when they went shopping. He and another member of the entourage had tried to push the photographers away. “Other cameramen took pictures of the scuffle; it was most distressing, so we had to return to the hotel,” Mr Cornet said.
