Athletics Halberg’s Plans For Visit To Europe
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 30. Murray Halberg intends to apply to the New Zealand Olympic and British Empire Games Association for permission to remain in Europe after the Cardiff Empire Games next year. His aim is to get further international competition before the Rome Olympic Games in 1960. Halberg is almost certain to be included in the Empire Games team. Should permission to remain in Europe be refused, he will probably return to Europe after returning to New Zealand with the team. He is running 100 miles a week at present with the intention of gaining a place in the New Zealand harrier team for Australia.
