CATHOLIC WOMEN’S LEAGUE
Annual Diocesan Conference The annual diocesan conference of the Catholic Women’s League began in Christchurch yesterday with the celebration of Mass at the Cathedral of tne Blessed Sacrament by Bishop Joyce. The president (Mrs J Amos) presided and weclomed Bishop Joyce, the chaplain (the Rev. Father T. Liddy), the Dominion president (Mrs B. O’Brien), and branch presidents and delegates. When opening the conference, which is being held at Mary knoll, Bishop Joyce extended his personal welcome to all those present and thanked members for the work they had dene in their parishes. The conference will conclude with a musical evening at Maryknoll this evening. During the conference delegates will deliver papers on the theme of the conference, “The Parish.” The rector of the Holy Name Seminary (the Rev. Father Maher, S.J.), will address delegates at the close of the conference.
