NEW OFFICERS’ CLUB

Building Nearing Completion New premises in Gloucester street west for the Canterbury Officers’ Club are nearing completion. The date for the handing over of the building by the contracting firm has not been fixed yet. The finishing touches are being given to the interior and the main entrance was being plastered yesterday. The building, of two storeys, is of concrete and brick and of modern design. It is set back from the street level and is in harmony with the modern office building on the adjoining section. Natural light is obtained from the western side. The main bar is on the ground floor at the rear of the club and a house bar is on the upper floor. The club, which has a big membership, has for many years been in a two-storey building in Worcester street.
