ROUNDABOUT FOR TRAFFIC

Operation Held Satisfactory

The traffic roundabout at the intersection of Riccarton road, Deans avenue and Riccarton avenue had proved “fairly satisfactory,” said the traffic superintendent of the Christchurch City Council (Mr G. P. Kellar? yesterday afternoon. Mr Kellar said that there was some confusion among motorists as to who should give way. “Uni the Government decides to give precedence to either those in the roundabout or those approaching it, the ordinary right-hand rule applies.” he said. Asked about the possibility of more roundabouts in the city area, Mr Kellar said that roundabouts would be desirable in several places, but “they are rather costly propositions, and I don’t feel inclined to recommend any more in the meantime, until those on our plate are more or less finalised.”
