Roxburgh Hydro is still far from being a “ghost town.” A census of the population taken about March 31 showed that 1151 persons were living in the permanent and temporary accommodation in the village. Of these 602 were adults, 304 were children over five years, and 245 were under five. The total included 274 who were working on the project. Some of those living in the camp were working outside it. and there were several wives and families whose husbands had sought work elsewhere Ministry of Works, State Hydroelectric Department, and contractors’ forces were now just about equal in strength.—(P.
