ANTI-SEMITISM IN GERMANY
Jewish Cemetery Desecrated (N.Z. Press Association,Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) BRUNSWICK (West Germany), April 27 Rewards totalling about £1250 have been offered by the West German authorities in an effort to catch unknown anti-Semites who devastated a Jewish cemetery at Salzgitter, Lower Saxony, on April 20 —Hitler’s birthday. The rewards are offered by the West German police, the local authorities and the Brunswick Chamber of Commerce and Industries. The cemetery raiders overturned 80 gravestones and a memorial and left behind a straw dummy with a swastika qnd a Nazi slogan: “Germany Awake— Perish Israel.*’ On the same day unknown persons hoisted swastika flags in Nuremberg on the field where Hitler used to address his supporters in the annual Nazi Party rally.
