Blue Jay was three wide over the last mile and racing to the straight she was showing up behind Colossal Queen and Parable with Dame Sybil, Welsh Heir. Scottish Fair, Suzendy, Peace Pipe and Rola Veyor all close up.

Once into the straight Parable soon shook off Colossal Queen, Blue Jay and then Scottish Fair 1 putting in challenges immediately } after. Blue Jay responded best j over the last 50 yards and gained • the decision by a head. 1 Scottish Fair did well to take ' second place after starting from ) 36 yards. He was a neck in front ■ of the unlucky Suzendy, which received a poor run on the inside. She finished well once in ; the clear in the straight. Parable battled on gamely to i be a head back in fourth place. ■ ahead of Dame Sybil, with Welsh Heir right up next, ahead of Peace Pipe, Rola Veyor and Stylish George. Responsive, Dalise. Rola Veyor and Ice Drift were slow early. Medetta In Form Medetta gave a grand display of trotting to win the Dunedin Handicap. He began well and soon worked into a handy position. Native Cord took the lead from Larry 'O with five furlongs to run. Medetta was handy in sixth position. Native Cord still had control approaching the straight, with Fifth Brigade, which broke at the furlong post. Fiery Cross, Medetta, Supervise, and Willowdale all handy. Medetta put in a strong run in the straight and came on to win decisively by a length and a half. Supervise trotted a grand race for second. She met trouble from breaking horses soon after the start and lost a lot of ground before she was properly clear. Native Cord tired slightly in the straight and was a length back third, two lengths in front of Fiery Cross, with Swiss Admiral (in a break) and Lawsuit next, clear of Fifth Brigade and Willowdale. Close Finish Quo Vadis, Parable and Blue Jay fought out a grand finish to the St. Clair Handicap and they crossed the line in that order with noses between them. Fiona led out, but was passed at the end of five furlongs by Parable. Half a furlong further on Quo Vadis rushed round the field to take over.. Parable was close to him at the straight entrance, with Upward beginning to tire next, ahead of Blue Jay, Victory Nelson, and Stylish George (together), with Air Command and Fiona (together) next. Parable and Quo Vadis had the finish to themselves until Blue Jay put in her claim between them. She had trouble getting through and just failed to get up.-Quo Vadis beat Parable by a nose, with another nose to the unlucky Blue Jay. Air Command, after being well back most of the way, finished solidly for fourth, but was four lengths away. Upward was another four lengths away fifth, ahead of Stylish George and Victory Nelson, with a gap to Fiona and Responsive. Divided Race Fourth Edition and Johnny Guitar, which finished fourth and second respectively in the New Zealand Pacing Stakes at Addington on April 13, made short work of their opponents in their respective divisions of the Domain Handicap. Fourth Edition was a little slow to get into his stride in the first division, but he moved up to be handy to the leader, Commander Spangle, with five furlongs to run. He was shading that horse racing to the straight, with Banquier and This Time clear of Tonga, Horatio and Keff. with Vinola's Luck further out. Fourth Edition did not look like being caught and he won without being a c ked for an effort by four lengths. Banquier. after having every chance, battled on for second, three lengths in front of This Time, with Keff and Vinola’s Luck in line next, clear of Commander Spangle and T Johnny Guitar tangled for a stride

'^ e start of his division, but he was soon handily placed. Timber Miller was the early leader, being passed by Mighty Loyal with five furlongs to run. Johnny Guitar moved up to follow him racing to the straight, with three lengths to Timber Miller, General Advance, and Kokomo. Johnny Guitar soon took the measure of Mighty Loyal and came on to beat him by a length and a half. Mighty Loyal paced a sound race from 24 yards and was a length and a half in front of Timber Miller, with two lengths to General Advance, five to Blue Emperor, and three to Kokomo. Easy For Serenelli Serenelli moved clear with three furlongs and a half to run in the Bayfield Handicap and she came on to gain the easiest of wins. Garadale was first out, but Serenelli closed on him at the end of three furlongs. This pair opened up a lead of about 15 lengths on the rest of the field, Serenelli racing past the pacemaker with three furlongs and a half to run. She turned for home five lengths in front of Garadale, with 15 lengths to Sheffield’s - Beauty, Indianna, Nirvana, Crisette, and Jean Able. Serenelli did not look like being caught and she won with plenty in hand by 12 lengths. Garadale battled on in the straight to hold second place after giving a bold display of trotting. He was four lengths in front of Nirvana, which was very slow early and finished strongly in the straight. He broke in the last stride in third place, three-quarters of a length in front of the favourite. Indianna, which broke in the first furlong. Whirlwind made up ground for fifth, clear of Sheffield's Beauty and Jean Able.
