Imprisonment Of Journalist

The Press Freedom Committee of the Commonwealth Press Union today supported the protest by the International Press Institute of Zurich against the Swiss action in imprisoning a British journalist, who refused to disclose the source of certain information.

The journalist, Michael Goldsmith, Geneva correspondent for the Associated Press, was sentenced by Swiss Federal authorities to 24 hours’ detention.

He had refused to disclose the source of information on which he based a report hbout the recent espionage case involving Mr Duboi, a former Swiss AttorneyGeneral, who committed suicide.
