Dr. Adams Sues Newspapers

(N.Z. Press LONDON, April 26.

Dr. John Bodkin Adams, acquitted earlier this month on a charge of murdering one of his patients, is claiming damages for libel against three British newspapers, his solicitor said today. Writs had been issued against the “Daily Mail,” the “Daily Mirror” and the “News Chronicle.” the solicitor said. The lawyer’s statement said that proceedings were also being considered against other British national newspapers and against certain European and American newspapers.

Dr. Adams is at present on bail on a number of summonses alleging offences under the Cremation Acts, the Dangerous Drugs Act, and the Forgery Act.

The Director of Public Prosecutions has informed his solicitor that he intends to proceed on these summonses. The case will be heard at the Eastbourne Magistrate’s Court, beginning on May 20,
