SALVATION ARMY SERVICE
Young members of the Red Shield scout movement contributed to the climax of an impressive Anzac service in the Christchurch Salvation Army Citadel on Thursday evening. While the Citadel band player “Our Lives We Gladly Yield” 20 young members, arranged in pairs, mounted the steps to the Cenotaph.. Each pair placed a wreath on the Cenotaph. Later they will be laid on the war memorial in Cathedral square. Other bodies represented at the service were Cubs, Girl Guides, the Red Cross, St. John Ambulance, the R.S.A. and the Legion of Frontiersmen. Major W. Simpson addressed the large congregation on the meaning of Anzac Day. Bandsman N. Gardner played “Last Post” and a prayer was read by Captain H. Botsford.
