UNDER-SEA SEARCH FOR OlL.—Qatar, in the Persian Gulf, is one of the main areas where oil is at present being sought under the sea. The use of giant mobile platforms has increased the number of potential oilfields. The platform shown in this photograph was used in preliminary exploration off Qatar. It was wrecked in a storm, but another platform is being obtained.
