King Hussein’s Demand

(Rec. 12.10 a.m.) NEW YORK, April 25. A United Press dispatch from Beirut quoted reports from Jordan saying that King Hussein had demanded the immediate withdrawal of Syrian troops from Jordan, and that the Iraqi Army was ready to back up his demands. These reports said that King Hussein received a pledge of full support from his cousin, King Feisal of Iraq, during a personal meeting yesterday on the Jordan-Iraq border. Unconfirmed but authoritative reports in Jerusalem said Iraqi troops had already entered Jordan near the closed Jordan-Syrian border. Iraqi volunteer units had then taken up positions on the Syrian border.
