Drivers Of Cars Injured

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 25. A boy was killed and two men were injured when two cars collided on the State highway about five miles south of Whangarei yesterday afternoon- The boy was: Robert Dawson Willis, aged seven, son of Mr and Mrs L. r’ Willis, 11 Kinder place, Meadowbank, Auckland.

Those injured and taken to the Whangarei Public Hospital were the drivers of the cars. They are the boy’s father, Mr Laurie Richard Willis, and the Rev. Murray Hall, of Mangapai. Their injuries were not serious.

BULLET WOUND IN SHOULDER

(New Zealand Press Association) GREYMOUTH, April 25. A 16-year-old Reefton youth. Rex Fattorini, was admitted to the Inangahua Public Hospital this morning suffering from a bullet wound in a shoulder, received accidentally during a deerstalking expedition.

This evening he was reported to be on the seriously ill list. Together with a companion. Robin Maxwell Riley, Fattorini set out on the expedition to Waitahu early this morning. The bullet which struck his shoulder came from a .22 calibre rifle. The accident happened at 10 o’clock, and the injured youth was admitted to hospital soon afterwards.

TWO INJURED IN COLLISION

Two persons were admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital with head injuries after a collision between two cars at the intersection of Buckleys road and Rhona street at 2.15 p.m. yesterday. Both of the injured persons, Mrs Alice Higginson, of 39 Union street, New Brighton, and Mr William Heslington, of Dunedin, were passengers in a car driven by Mrs Higginson’s husband, Mr T. J. F. Higginson. The other car involved in the collision was driven by Mr R. H. Rogers, of Ashburton. The injured persons were taken to the hospital by a St. John ambulance and their conditions were reported last evening to be satisfactory.

Cyclist Dies Of Injuries

A cyclist who was injured on Tuesday afternoon when his bicycle and a car collided at the intersection of Dacre street and Buckleys road, died in the Christchurch Public Hospital at 1.25 a.m. on Wednesday. He was Thomas Forrester, aged 58, single, of 210 Worcester street. Mr Forrester was taken by a St. John ambulance to hospital shortly after 4 p.m. on Tuesday. Injured Man Dies (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 25. An elderly man, who was injured in a road accident at Manurewa on April 9, died in the Green Lane Public Hospital ori Tuesday. He was: Thomas Young, a widower, of 77 Jellicoe road, Manurewa.

Child Drowned In Flooded Stream

(New Zealand Press Association) WHANGAREI, April 25. A child was drowned when she fell from a bridge into a flooded stream at Mahinepoua, Kaeo, on Tuesday morning. She was: Mihi Walters, two-year-old daughter of Mr and Mrs Taiuru Walters, of Kaeo.

Car Rolls Over Bank

John Fellows, a member of the harbourmaster’s staff at Lyttelton, was injured when the car he was driving rolled over a sft bank on the Lyttelton side of the Evans Pass highway about 2.40 a.m. on Wednesday. The accident occurred when Mr Fellows swerved to avoid a stray horse. He was treated at the Lyttelton police station by a Lyttelton doctor for injuries to the ribs. Mr Fellows lives at Fisher avenue, Beckenham.

Woman Injured

Miss Margaret Devlin, of 40 Eangor street, suffered head injuries when she was involved in an accident with a car at the corner of Colombo street and Gloucester street soon after 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
