PROPOSED SERVICE TO RONGOTAI
Revision Of Plan Possible (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 25. “It’s a complete surprise to us.” the chairman of directors of Trans Island Airways, Ltd. (Mr G. McLatchie), said in a telephone interview from Christchurch. Mr McLatchie, commenting on the statement by the Minister in charge of Civil Aviation (Mr T. P. Shand) that Rpngotai Airport would be closed on August 1, said his company planned to inaugurate a twice-weekly air service between Christchurch and Rongotai, probably next month. A seven-seater American-built Beechcraft would be used "but in view of the Minister’s announcement, we will have to take time to reconsider the situation,” he said. “Meanwhile, we have no further comment"
