Butter Again Rises In Britain
(Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, April 25. The price of New Zealand butter rose a further 4s to 274 s per cwt yesterday, making a rise of 14s in two days. One theory for the increase is that traders realise butter is now cheap, and that although present stocks are heavy, imports from Australia and New Zealand in the second half of this year are likely to be less than last year. They are therefore tending to stock up, but the New Zealand Dairy Products Marketing Commission and the Australian Dairy Board are keeping supplies to wholesalers fairly tight. Danish remains at 286 s per cwt—only 12s above New Zealand.
