Soccer CLUB FINED £50
Coach Played In Game (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 25. The Eastern Suburbs Soccer Club was fined £5O by the Board of Control of the Auckland Football Association at its meeting last night. The sum must be paid by noon tomorrow, otherwise the club will be suspended until this amount is paid. This ruling was the outcome of a match played last Monday at Blandford Park, when the association’s new coach, the Irish international, Mr W. Walsh, played for a combined team against Eastern Suburbs, which had arranged the match. One of the conditions under which Eastern Suburbs was allowed to stage the game was that Mr Walsh did not play. After a discussion which lasted for an hour and a quarter, the acting chairman, Mr R. Dixon, who was in the chair, moved the motion which was passed unanimously. Mr Walsh was exonerated in all respects from any action of Eastern Suburbs. It was revealed at the meeting that the total gate-takings for the game was £ 129.
