CHURCH MERGER PROPOSED
Plan Approved By Presbytery
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 25.
A resolution approving the principle of corporate union with the Methodist and Congregational churches and the Associated Churches of Christ was passed by the Auckland Presbytery by 30 votes to 23.
The vote was taken after a twohour debate, during which 25 speakers spoke for and against the principle.
This was the first occasion on which the opinion of the Presbytery as a whole was expressed. The resolution provides that the idea of union be commended tn congregations for sympathetic consideration. Church members will be voting on the principle in June.
