Plaque Unveiled At Technical College
A plaque commemorating 83 old boys of the Christchurch Technical College who lost their lives in World War II was unveiled in the school hall by Dr. D. E. Hansen yesterday morning. The plaque is similar to that erected in memory of former pupils who died in World War I. The Rev. R. O. Williams gave an address. Among those who attended the service were several veterans of both world wars and many relatives of the men named on the the plaque. Dr. Hansen dedicated the plaque and a bugler sounded “Last Post”' and “Reveille.” The benediction was pronounced by Mr Williams. Teachers’ College Service Mr D. Lock gave the address at the Christchurch Teachers’ College Anzac Day service in the college hall on Wednesday. The entire seryice was conducted by students of the college who are former servicemen. Mr A. R. Coburn conducted the singing and Mr E. J. Pearson led prayers. More than 600 students attended.
Hebrew Service.—The Canterbury Hebrew Congregation hdld a special Anzac Day service in the Gloucester street Synagogue yesterday morning. An address was given by the president of the congregation (Mr D. Cook) and Rabbi S. N. Salas conducted the service. There was a good attendance.
