(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 10 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 25. Thousands of former servicemen and women marched through the ; cities and towns of Australia today to commemorate Anzac Day. They were cheered by hundreds of thousands of people lining the streets in tribute. In Sydney, in brilliant sunshine, more than 150.000 people cheered 30,000 marchers and in Melbourne the streets were lined as about 25,000 veterans swung Past. . In Sydney, the march was led by the Governor of New South Wales (Lieutenant-General Sir John Northcott) and in Melbourne by the former Chief of the Air

Staff, Air Marshal Sir John McCauley. In Canberra the GovernorGeneral (Sir William Slim) placed a wreath on the Stone of Remembrance and Lady Slim placed a spray.of flowers on the stone. New Zealanders who crossed the Tasman for the occasion marched in various centres. About 70 Australians and New Zealanders in Tokyo attended Anzac ceremonies at the Australian Embassy and at the British Commonwealth war cemetery at Hpdogaya, near Tokyo.
