FUNDS FOR NEW GYMNASIUM
Boys’ High School Concert
A concert, in addition to the usual second term public concert, will be given in the Civic Theatre on Friday and Saturday evening by the Christchurch Boys’ High School choir, band, and orchestra to raise money for the proposed new gymnasium. Most of the items on the programme have been arranged especially for the concert and will include items by the combined choir and orchestra, featuring some of the works sung by the school in assembly and an arrangement of “Rule, Britannia” from the original score. The band will play Denis Wright’s version of “Oklahoma,” made popular by the recent film, and the last item will be a new arrangement of “Cowboy Coral” sung by the choir. The gymnastic squad will give a display of normal gymnastic training, followed by a parody on “rock ’n’ roll.” There will also be vocal solos by two sixth form boys and a light-hearted arrangement of the traditional French song, “Allouette.”
