RUNAWAY SHIPS ENDANGER BRIDGE IN OREGON.—-Tugs trying to pull two ships away from a bridge across the Willamette river at Portland, Oregon, after high winds had swept the vessels from their berths. The ships, the Lewis Luckenback (next to bridge) and the Chateau Thierry, were not pulled clear until the arrival of more powerful tugs.
