Rugby Tour Of Australia
Officials of the New South Wales Rugby Union are confident that the Australian tour by the All Blacks this year will be the greatest in the history of the code in Australia. They base this assumption on the fact that New Zealand is now the holder of the unofficial world championship and that the All Blacks will play the kick-into-touch rule, which mdkes for more open and brighter play. In the .past, interest in the All Blacks has not reached the heights of that of the Fijians, South Africa and the British Isles. Interest will also be heightened since the Australian players will be fighting for a place in the Australian team to tour the British Isles, later this year. Notwithstanding the rival attraction of the Rugby League World Cup series, which will coincide with the All Blacks’ tour, attendances should be large. Rugby football is receiving tre.mendous publicity this year and clubs' report a record number of new players.
