Comedian Catches Suspect

(N.Z. Press Association Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) LOS ANGELES, April 21. The comedian, Jerry Lewis, held a burglary suspect at gunpoint until police arrived last night Lewis told the police that a man rang his back door bell about 8.30 p.m. and handed him a note. The comedian said he closed the door and was looking at the note when he noticed that the man had gone around to the front door and was trying to enter the house. Lewis said he pressed a silent burglar alarm, calling the police, then took a .38 calibre revolver to the front door. The man hid behind a parked car, but the comedian said he spotted him and held him at gunpoint until officers arrived on the scene. Police charged the men on suspicion of burglary.
