HOTEL FIGHT ON DANISH BORDER
Police Clash With Refugees (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) COPENHAGEN, April 21. Eight Hungarian refugees were arrested today after a fight with
police last night in a hotel in Krusaa, on the Danish-German border. Two policemen were injured and taken to hospital. The police said that three Hungarians from a camp near Krusaa visited a hotel a week ago and refused to leave at closing time. A scuffle with the hotel staff followed and the Hungarians finally left the hotel, saying that they would be back. They returned yesterday. When they again refused to leave at closing time, the hotel authorities
called the police. Between 10 and 15 other Hungarians arrived and began throwing stones and breaking into the hotel, the police said. Two policemen who went to the scene were attacked. Other hotel guests came to the rescue and waitresses ran screaming to nearby houses. While a stronger police force was being sent for, the refugees knocked one policeman unconscious with a bottle. The other was struck down by a stone. The refugees used chairs and
tables as weapons as the fight raged between the hotel and the main road outside. The police fired several warning shots, and the Hungarians escaped into the nearby woods. They did not return to their camp and the police are still searching for them.
