Husband Charged With Murder Of Wife

A 29-year-old butcher, William Raymond Kelman, of Hamiltop, was charged before Mr Stewart Hardy, S.M., in the Hamilton Magistrate’s Court today-with the murder of his wife, Georgina Rose Kelman, aged 23, of Thorpe street, Morpinsville, on Saturday.,; /
On the application of SeniorDetective N. Thompson, Kelman (Mr N. I. Smith) was remanded to appear in Hamilton on May 6. The body of Mrs Kelman, mother of five children, of whom the eldest is aged 6, was found
in the kitchen of her home early on Saturday afternoon. Her throat had been cut. Police took possession of a blood-stained 7in butcher’s knife found near the body. All day yesterday mobile police patrols searched the area and road blocks were thrown at five points leading out of the Waikato. Police broadcasts throughout the day stated they wished to interview Mrs Kelman’s husband. At 11 p.m. yesterday Kelman arrived at the Hamilton. Police Station with a relative, but no arrest was made until about 1.30 a.m. ttfday.
