HINDS GYMKHANA More Than 1200 Attend
More than 1200 persons attended the annual gymkhana at the Hinds Domain yesterday. A full programme of events and competitions attracted heavy entries, and maintained the interest of the spectators throughout the day. The main race of the morning’s trotting events, the Hinds Cup, was won by SkydMe. owned by Mr T. Pratt and trained by Mr J. M. Williamson. A feature of the athletic events was the javelin throwing by A. Grayburn, a former New Zealand champion. The distance of Grayburn's winning throw was 187 ft 9in. The cycling events were dominated by W. Skilling and R. Parkin. These two cyclists rode very well in all their races, and both scored six points to become joint holders of the Boomerang Cup, The gate receipts for the day totalled more than £lBO. a figure which compared favourably with that of previous years.
