Mr Norman Hartnell, the Queen’s dress designer who underwent an 07 eration yesterday to cure incapacity in both arms said today he was “feeling as fine as an Easter chicken.” The illness attacked Mr Hartnell after his return from Paris where he had seen the Queen wearing the clothes he had created specially for the Royal visit. He said today: “Both my arms were incapacitated but I have had an operation to one of them and both are now better.”
He said today that all the work on the Queen’s wardrobe for her State visit to Denmark in May was well forward.
Visitors and members of the Upper Riccarton Townswomen’s Guild were entertained at a recent meeting by Mrs R. Walker (vocal solos)/ sketches by the drama groups, and songs by the choir. Mrs H. Warren presided.
