Grave-Digging Contest Off

(Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, April 19. Members of the Round Table Clubs at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, and Mexborough, Yorkshire, have called off a proposed grave-digging contest after protests by local people, headed by the Provost of Southwell (the Very Rev. Hugh Heywood). “The whole thing has been misrepresented, so we are going to call it off,” said a Round Table spokesman. “It was never intended to mock Christian burial or to offend anybody,” he said.
