The Future Brighter Than Ever alan j. McGillivray alan j. McGillivray Car Exchange And Sales Service, 100 Oxford Terrace ’Phone 75-427 It would appear the quick change in car values is tending to create what is tantamount to a stalemate between buyers and sellers. The situation is such, it could develop into a real depression in car sales, should all concerned decide to remain inactive until some indication is given as to what trend the market is likely to follow. are unwanted on any market as they destroy confidence, are ruthlessly destructive and create havoc in every walk in life. Fortunately New Zealand is a young, virile, and prosperous country where all people are fully employed, earn high wages and enjoy a standard of living unequalled anwhere else in the world today. While these conditions prevail a depression has little opportunity to gaining its depredatory stranglehold. Transport represents one of the “Big Three” in the field of commerce today, the other two being Food and Clothing, and it is obvious that as long as people have money to spend, it will be various ratios among these Three. Any recession in business can only be of a temporary nature when being experienced by a trade allied to one of the “Big Three.” Transport is expanding and growing at such a tremendous rate, that it is utterly impossible for a trade supplying the means of< transport to remain at a standstill for any length of time; consequently it is not surprising to find that after the upheaval that has taken place in car values during the last six weeks, car sales are moving forward with increasing momentum and Will cause the writer little surprise if the volume of sales is not greater than ever. Values are on a much lower level and this will bring a greater number of people into the car market. . Owners offering a car for sale are faced with having to accept depreciation for mileage run, while the condition and model of their car can affect *•’•.<» pnee to a considerable degree. With only a few exceptions prices in excess of list are a feature of the past. While cars of low mileage are still bringing substantial prices, those that have run 25,000 miles or more are unsaleable unless offered at a much lower figure. alan McGillivray has always maintained, # and also repeatedly stated, that the used car buyer is the foundation of the motor trade. His value to the new car buyer is gaining greater recognition every day, as it is the figure he is prepared to pay for a used car that will decide the issue for many people as to whether they can afford to pay the difference for a new car. To Be Continued. alan McGillivray Will buy good late model cars for cash. Good cars will be taken in and sold on behalf of owners. * AU finance arranged on private cars sold through this Sales Service; owners paid out immediate cash settlement.
