MIRAMAR SEAT

NATIONAL CANDIDATE SELECTED (New Zealand Press Association) . WELLINGTON, July 23. Mr Robert John McConnell, a 35-year-old public accountant, was last night chosen irom five nominees as the National Party candidate for Miramar at the General Election.

Mr McConnell was educated at Kilbirnie School and Scots College. His later education was interrupted by war service, but he later completed his accountancy studies. He enlisted in the Army in 1940, served with the 4th Field Artillery in Greece, and was with the 2nd N.Z7E.F. until the end of the African campaign. He was invalided home in 1944.
