BRITISH ACTION At U.N.

(Rec. 11 p.m.) NEW YORK, July 7. Britain today refused to recognise Nationalist China in a vote on whether to allow the Nationalists to participate in the United Nations Trusteeship Council. Britain abstained when the 12-nation council voted 9 to 2 to approve the report of its credentials committee recognising Nationalist China’s seal ■ the group. Russia and India voted against the report. It was the first time m a major United Nations body that Britain has refused to vote for Nationalist China, but previously all such votes were tied in with Russian demands to. oust the Nationalists and to give their seat to Communist China. Russia raised the question today of whether the Nationalists should be granted the seat. A British spokesman said later that this vote did not constitute any change in British policy.
