SUBSIDIES FOR ROADING
FIRST INSTALMENTS FROM NEW FUND ' I PAYMENT NEXT WEEK (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, July 8. The first payment of roading subsidies from the National Roads Fund will be made to local bodies next week. The instalment totals £710,000, and has been computed on a populatic n basis jn municipalities and on rate collections in counties. /About 160 municipalities will share in a payment of £335,000, and £375,000 will oe divided among 120 counties. The municipalities will receive their allocations early next week. Applications from counties are being dealt with as they are received. Many of these have already been considered by the National Roads Board, and in these cases payment will also be made next week. Subsequent instalments will be paid to local authorities in September, December and March.
