WRESTLER HIT IN EYE

PELLET FIRED FROM AUDIENCE -The Press” Special Service HASTINGS, July 8. The professional wrestler Pat McGill threatened not to continue When he was struck in the right eye by a lead pellet during a bout in Hastings. Protesting against the Great Zorro’s tactics, members of the audience threw coins into the ring. McGill left the ring and, addressing the audience, said: “I value my eyesight. If anything more is thrown I shall go.” An official later told a group of boys waiting for autographs that the Hawke’s Bay Wrestling Association would give a free ticket for all bouts next season to anyone disclosing the name of the person responsible. Later the police interviewed a young man and took possession of a homemade spring-gun. McGill, who was one fall up, was disabled by an arm injury in the fifth round and was unable to continue.
